Luhamaa Area II The last part of Estonian - Russian part of this tour. After coming back from the north of the Luhamaa border crossing, I saw a sign to the "Luhamaa Piirivalve Kordon" at Hindsa. So that's the base of the local Border Guard Service. Then I crossed the highway E77 to go south to Toodsi, where the border reaches Lake Pabra. I wanted to walk to the water, but it was too swampy and there were too many mosquitoes and horseflies. Besides that, the temprature was raising fast. I parked my car somewhere on the white road you see on the map. When I returned to my car, there was a little surprise.

	Luhamaa Piirivalve Kordon The base of the local Piirivalve (Border Guard) Kordon in Hindsa. I didn't stop here to avoid questions and suspicion. There is a short cut from here to the big border crossing on the E77 which is only accessable for the Border Guards.
	Kuri Koer I reached a small parking area in the wood near Toodsi, from where I walked to the border. First I followed the wrong road, the white road on the map, but that led to a privat area. I returned as I didn't want to meet the dog. Kuri Koer means 'angry dog'. Eravaldus means the same as Era maa: private ground.
	Border pole 46 My way along the border to the Pabra lake was very hard. I didn't make. It was rather swampy and there were so many mosquietos and horseflies. The closer I came to the lake, the more difficult it was. I came to border pole 46 and then I returned to the north.
	Area at border pole 46 Grass, swamp, water, some trees and flies. There's just one on the lens.
	Border pole 47 Here the swamp ended. The area here is easier to access.
	Border pole 48 Back in the woods. The border makes a 90 degrees angle here and goes straight to the north. The border zone here is good accessable.
	Border pole 49 The area is a bit hilly here again. The border goes in a straight line to the north. It was somewhere here where the path from the car ended.
	Border pole 50 It looks like on Russian side a path to the border is ending here.
	Border pole 51 The last border pole for me here. The Russian '51' is not readable, but the '51' on the small Estonian stump is clear about it.
	In the direction of 52 I stopped here, a last look at the open border zone with woodchips as sandstrip.
	Kuri Koer When I arrived at the car, a MPV with two Border Guards just arrived. "Dokument", was the first they asked. While they were checking my papers, the owner of the Kuri Koer was walking with her dog here. The dog was calm and didn't react angry. After some minutes two more Border Guards arrived from the same path from the border as I came from. They had followed me, although I hadn't noticed them. They had ascertained that I had not crossed the border, so no warning or penalty. After I explained them what I was doing here and showing them my e-mail of Mr Maran, everything was all right.
	Area with my car The Border Guards were very friendly. When I asked to make a picture of them, they immediately chose the right position in front of their car. Thanks guys! Next page >>
