Poland - Belarus II
From the tripoint LT-BY-PL I hiked about one kilometer to the south along the Polish - Belarusian border. THe border is here in a straight line, the area here
is rather flat. |
Borderpoles 673 The last PL-BY pole, pretty close to the tripoint. This range of numbers starts at the tripoint Ukraine - Poland - Belarus. Again you see the nice paved path on the Belarusian side. It ends here. Unfortunately I was not able to picture the number of the Polish pole as it was not allowed to enter the sand strip. |

Fences in Belarus Some high and massive fences on the Belarusian side. I saw on Google Earth that there are some military activities close to the Belarusian - Lithuanian border. It would have been interesting to go there from the Lithuanina side. If you watch on Google Earth you see a wide sand road or strip on the Belarusian side of the border with Poland. It's between 500 and 1000 meters from the border and continues until the tripoint with Ukraine. This area is definitly a no-go zone. So the Belarusian border-area you see here from the Polish side will not be accessable. Good idea for a next visit. |

Borderpoles 672 I hiked on the Polish inspection path. Notice the wide and clean sand strip. The prints you see on the strip are made by animals. They can cross the border where they want! As you see, the border is in one straight line. |

Borderpoles 671 I walked about 500 meters to this pair 671. Once arrived here, I decided to go back to the car and go to the next and last tripoint Poland - Russia - Lithuania. |
