Bordermarkers 0571 - 0580
At Purcari the border runs from PMR into the Dnjestr river. Between Purcari and Palanca where the border runs on land again, there are 37 bordermarkers on each side of the river. Most of them are reachable as there are narrow and bad paths along the Dnjestr river. They are used by fishermen who use big parts of the bank to cast their fishing rods.
The whole length of the border in the river between Purcari and Palanca is about 62.5 kilometers
I visited the area in August 2024. To make it easy for me the Poliția de Frontieră invited me to join them on one of their patrol boats.
In about 3 hours time they guided me to the markers 0571 to 0594. Along the Ukrainian banks there was no activity at all as the area behind the banks is a swamp.
However, on Moldovan side many fishers were active. It leads to lively scenes during my boot trip.

At Purcari the border comes from the Pridnestrovian Moldovian Republic (PMR) and follows the Dnjestr river.

Totally unexpected I could take place in the patrol boat in Olănești. It was a great experience on this warm and late afternoon in August to sail over the quiet Dnejstr river.
The border guards stopped shortly at every border marker. Due to the the low position of the sun and backlight it was not easy to take the best pictures.

The first border marker on the south part between Moldova and Ukraine. The border comes over land from the Cuciurgan Reservoir in PMR.
On the opposite bank I couldn't spot a border marker.

At the edge of Olănești. Notice the fishing rods. The boat had to avoid to sail in the fishing lines that reached far out into the river.

Border marker 0579
Also Olănești. Notice the three small boats. Although the Dnjester border directly to Ukraine, it's allowed to sail on this river.
