Bordermarkers 0761 - 0770
East and south east of Vulcănești. Here also some inland borders between Moldova (Cahul district) and Găgăuzia (Vulcănești district). On the first part I was guided by two Border Guards.
EE-RU 20160415 Map 0761-0770
East and south east of Vulcănești. On the map you see some inland borders between Moldova and Găgăuzia.

MD-UA 0761 Border marker 0761
Hard to reach. The Dacia Duster brought us to BM 0762 and from there we had to hike over the fields and over some steep parts through the bushes.
And it was very hot.

MD-UA 0762 Border marker 0762
Again close to the railroad, but not visible from here. As usual on Ukrainian side an anti-tank ditch and a sand wall.

MD-UA 0763 Border marker 0763
No angle in the border here, it's totaly straight and it runs along the railroad line.
This however is a tripoint between the Cahul district (Moldova) and the Vulcanesti district (Găgăuzia).

MD-UA 0764 Border marker 0764
Again a border crossing. Vulcănești - Vynohradivka. The border marker is not close to the road but about 25 meters in the bushes and about 400 meters behind the Moldovan border station.
The distance between the two border control stations is about 3 kilometers which is rather much.
From here my two guides brought me back to my car in Mirnoe.

MD-UA 0764-01 Border marker 0764-01
On the opposite site of the road which crosses the border an intermediate marker, 0764-01.

MD-UA 0765 Border marker 0765
The border still runs parallel to the railway. The station of Vulcănești is located east from the city. The station looks abandoned and there is no passenger traffic. The line is only used for freight trains. In Vulcănești there are some side tracks with parked trains. This pair of border markers is close to the station, about 50 meter from the tracks.

MD-UA 0766 Border marker 0766
From 0765 to here it goes a bit uphill. The border makes a 90 degrees angle. Again a kind of tripoint, here starts a small Moldovan exclave within Găgăuzia with only fields and one small village, Alexandru Ioan Cuza. The situation here is rather complicated.
The sand road is used by farmers and by the Poliția de Frontieră.

MD-UA 0767 Border marker 0767
Another 90 degrees angle.

MD-UA 0768 Border marker 0768
In earlier times, when the border between the Soviet states had not yet the importancy as now, there was a long straight road between the fields crossing the border. Now the road is closed and removed but it's provided with a border marker.

MD-UA 0769 Border marker 0769
Between 0768 and 0769 the Moldovan exclave within Gagausia ends, but this is not marked. The Politia de Frontia of Moldova also guards the borders between Găgăuzia and Ukraine.
Much bared wire on Ukrainian side as there is no anti tank wall + ditch.
Border marker 0770
The road which entered Moldova at BM 0768 crossed the border again here. Now it's closed, broken down and barricaded.
The sign mentions 'Ренийский район' which means: the Reni district, which is in Ukraine now.
