Map RO-UA 31-42 The area west of Halmeu.
	Border marker 31 After some dry parts, my feet are wet again. All paths are flooded.
	Huge puddles The puddles along the border get deeper and bigger. Between BM 31 and 32 it's one river. There was no alternative so I just had to go and get wet.
	Border marker 32 My trips through the water is not without result: it leads me to this pair 32.
	Border marker 33 Again cameras on the Romanian side.
	Border marker 34 After the hard and wet tour I took a little rest here. Once I was sitting, the border police from Halmeu called me just to inform if everything was OK. Although I didn't see any camera in the wide area, they knew exactly that I was sitting here.
	Border marker 35 Strange situation: on the Ukrainian side two border markers, 35 and 36 on the right. Propably because the border makes a 270 degrees angle on the Ukrainian side here.
	Border marker 36 Although not visable on this picture, there was also a Ukrainian copy in the bushes. However, I coulnd't read the number. Anyway, it can't have been 36. So the numbering on both sides of the border looks to be different.
	Border marker 37 Here two Romanian border markers. The left one has no visable number, the right one is '37'. Unfortunately I couldn't discover a number on the Ukrainian copy.
	Border marker 38 And here again two Ukrainian border markers. The Ukrainian copies don't contain a number but there are yellow signs on the fence. On the second picture you can recognize '37' and '38', which is a bit puzzling because '37' is also the number of the Romanian marker on the previous angle. Strange.
	Border marker 39 The situation is normal again. No sharp angles, just two border markers.
	Border marker 40 On of my favorite pictures. A very well maintained Ukrainian border marker. I get close to the border crossing Halmeu / Дяково (Diakovo) now.
	Border marker 41 I now reach the area between the two border crossings. People who cross the border easily consider this as 'no one's land'. Border police officers always get very nervous when you stop here or when they find you here. That's why I avoid these places. But not today: I was fully allowed to be here. A very friendly border police officer already expected and welcomed me. A very pleasant but unusual experience.
	Border markers 41 and 42 The other side of the border-crossing road is covered by the pair 42.
	Border marker 42 Both road and rail cross the border on this place.
	Tracks A look at the tracks between Дяково and Halmeu. Equiped for both Russian gauge (1520 mm) and UIC gauge (1435 mm). Considering the rust on the tracks, the UIC isn't used that much. From here I walke back to the border crossing Halmeu. The border officers were already informed about me and I could pass without any delay. Before I went to my car, I once again thanked the border police officer who brought me to Cidreag. Then I headed for the second trip for today. Next page >>
