Border marker 531
Again an angle here. On the estonian side here is the dry part from which I approached the area. It's only
a thin strip leading to a road to Värska/Podmotsa. You can find traces of the cars of the Border Guards who start and end their
inspection rounds here.

Border marker 532
Small angle here, everything turns into swamp again.
Border marker 533
The border turns north-west again. From here it's straigt line through the swamp to Popovitsa, the last 'dry land' of the
EE-RU land border.
Border marker 534
Reaching the last part of the land border. From here it's an almost straight line to the end where the border runs into Värska bay /
Lake Pihkva.

Border marker 534 strip
The border runs through a small pond. On the left side you see the garden of one of the few houses in Popovitsa. I read somewhere
that the Estonian Govenment is buying parts of land to ensure a border strip of at least 10 meters, which is not the case here.
At the other hand, this is a zone of low risk, the other side of the border ends in a small isolated area.
Border marker 535
The Estonians made even a sand strip here.
Border marker 536
A small angle in border, so one more border marker.
Border marker 537
On the left a small road gives access to the border area. Mainly used by patrolling Border Guards, I guess.
On the background you see the Estonian copy of BM 538, the swampy edge of the lake and the water itself.
Border marker 538
'The last post', close to Värska bay.
Border marker 538
Right from here the border runs over water via buoys until Narva and the Baltic Sea.
Border marker 538
The machines that plough the sand strip can make a turn here.
And this was it, the end of land border.
We finished our trips along the land border here in July 2017.
Now we skip a long distance as well in place as in time: no border markers along the Lake Pihkva and the Lake Peipus.
